Naam came to me with one wish made of two. The ring had to be Mili's in every line — minimal, curved, a single stone, nothing that argues for attention. And it had to carry your names. His first thought was an engraving, hidden inside the band. We found something quieter and stronger: your two names became the pillars of the setting itself, the columns that raise Mili's sapphire and hold it to the light. We drew it two ways and kept the calmer one; the names are the only ornament it needs. It is a solitaire, the way she wanted, and it is one of a kind, the way your story is. I am keeping its record here, the way I keep every piece: one story, in order.

My brother Jay raised the piece in platinum at the bench in India — the two-strand shank drawn and woven, the named pillars built to carry the gallery, the violet sapphire seated and secured, the metal brought to a high polish, and the inside of the band struck with the Mark. It began in one wish made of two — a solitaire quiet enough for Mili's hand, and both your names carried in the metal — and it ends with those names made structural, the pillars that raise the violet sapphire to the light. Platinum, the band drawn into two woven strands, the stone set and the whole brought to a high polish, and the inside struck with the Mark of the fourth generation.
